CR Final Task
This short film was a very fun project to film. A lot was learned through filming and editing this film. There are many aspects I can appeal to that occur in the real world that are seen in our film. The representation of two detectives looking into the case of a mass serial murderer in the short film captures broader social concerns of deceit, trust, and the complexity of human nature. The investigators' constant search of the mysterious murderer mirrors society's need for safety and justice as the story progresses. The idea that evil may frequently hide in the most unexpected places, even among those granted with defending the law, is symbolised by the discovery that one of the detectives is, in fact, the criminal, adding levels of complexity to the story. This turn of events exposes the underlying weaknesses in society systems and questions conventional views of authoritative leaders. Furthermore, the dynamic between the two investigators changes dramatically, illustrating the fragile nature of human connections, from an early state of friendship and partnership. when faced with deception and betrayal. As the killer-detective uses their position of authority to deceive and avoid suspicion, the film delicately explores issues of power relations and corruption. In addition, the story's conclusion challenges viewers to consider their own biases and presumptions, highlighting the significance of critical thinking and caution in navigating a world where outward appearances can be deceitful. Creating this film was a long process in order to get to our final product. This helped create a sense of “branding” in the process of getting to this product. In our short film, every element works together like puzzle pieces to create a unique identity that sticks with you long after watching. To begin with, the narrative establishes the foundation for our branding. The shocking revelation that one of the investigators is actually the mass serial murderer shocks the viewers and makes a lasting effect. This surprising move distinguishes us and adds something special to our film. The cinematography then comes into its own. The tension is increased and spectators are kept on the edge of their seats by the use of ominous and unsettling lighting. It functions as a kind of visual identity to further emphasise the story's ominous tone. The soundtrack also gives our branding a further perspective. The menacing soundtrack intensifies the suspense and heightens the feeling of dread as the plot unfolds. It leads the viewer through the narrative's turns and turns, acting as the film's heartbeat. Furthermore, the acting performances strengthen our brand significantly. The subtle facial expressions and body language of the detectives imply hidden intentions, giving their personas a greater depth.
