Props:   We will be using prop weapons and murder scene props to fully embody the atmosphere of the murder mystery concept. This will be accessible via Elena because she has all of these things from previous experience in the film industry. Hopefully we won't have any issues on the things we wish we would have had in the filming process, and we will need to make sure we properly prepare to avoid this  Costumes:   We will be wearing older costumes to embody kind of an older murder mystery genre kind of like the series/board game named "Clue". Short Film Research: Unleaded (Thriller): Short Film

Image
The short film Unleaded begins with a black screen, typical from a thriller short. The audience is only given the sound of what is revealed to be a person filling up gas at a station. A woman is shown to be sitting in her car as she looks inside the gas station. She then is shown to be watching two people robbing the gas station inside, one pointing a gun at the cashier and the other holding him down. Another car pulls into the gas station and the women watches the car very closely. What is going on in the car is then revealed. There are two men in the front and a third in the back. The two look to the back and at the third guy as he objects to going inside the gas station. It is not known if they are aware of what is going on inside, but the man who was objecting in car ends up going in, putting on a gray hoodie, and walks right past the robbers. The robbers notice and one sneaks up from behind the guy in the grey hoodie and points a gun from the back of his head telling him to leave

Short Film Research: Jet, Thriller Genre

Image
"Jet" is the title of the film. An overhead view of a man looking through the front windshield of an automobile opens the movie. An vehicle accelerates up a hill in the distance. As the man pulls a pistol to his side, the camera moves to the side of his head, exposing his intention to commit suicide. At that moment, a little girl bounces down the street, and the man grabs the daughter, puts the gun in the van, and drives up, leaving him unsure of what to do. After cutting to a scene of a man warily crossing a forest line to check where the car had disappeared, the action shifts to the man running through the trees in the direction of the house. He hides behind the car, stays in the bush, and runs across the front yard in time to see a man approach and take the girl out. The man rounds a corner, encounters two more individuals, and murders them both. The man then discovers the girl perched on a stool, while the title card plays. The use of narration, camera angles, and noises

Other side of the box, Thriller genre

Image
The rainy, dismal night opens the first scene of the short film Other Side of the Box. A man driving throughout the city has a terrified expression on his face. We see glimpses of a mysterious figure in the rearview mirror that appears to be pursuing him. The man pulls up to an empty warehouse, opens the door, and leaves. Despite his efforts to locate a hiding place, it appears that the person has already located him. He turns as he hears footsteps and spots the shadowy figure standing at the doorway. The apparition approaches and stands over him, grinning, as he stumbles and hits the ground while attempting to flee.Even as he begs for his life, the figure lunges forward and draws a knife. A scuffle ensued, and he made an effort to retaliate. When it appears that there is no chance left, a group armed with rifles approaches and storms the building. The figure is apprehended and the man is spared. It is revealed that the man was recruited to keep him quiet during the significant trial

Short Film Research: Amber, Thriller Genre

In this movie, the plot is crucial. When a barber in a highway barbershop discovers that his first client of the day isn't who he thought him to be, he finds himself in a potentially fatal position. There is a moment in every frame of the movie. This greatly improved the movie. The acting was superb. In addition, the film's direction was superb. The film has certain scenes that evoke the dynamic sense of character, which is reinforced by the fluid editing. The moment that built tension also contributed to a more enjoyable movie-watching experience. Everything about the movie's production value was excellent. It seemed as though you were virtually living through the situations because of the camera angles.Watching the sequence while he was drowning was quite entertaining. A shot captured from underwater gives a highly lifelike impression to the scene. All in all, the movie was fantastic because of a ton of little things. Sound was heavily included throughout the entire mov

Research: How to make a short film

Image
Hello everyone, i have decided to watch a YouTube video titled, "How to make a short film". It gave me amazing ideas and thought i would share. Adhere to your central theme. Ensure that your shots, flashbacks, and dialogue align with your overarching theme. It might be tempting to deviate, so the initial advice from the video was to maintain focus by establishing and adhering to a consistent theme. An illustration was provided using a short film where every element tied back to the message the main character's mother was conveying.  Avoid predictability. Embrace unpredictability – as the video suggested, "If your brain is telling you to go left, go even farther right." This prevents the audience from anticipating your next move, keeping them engaged. The example given involved a horror film where a potential jump scare was delayed, subverting expectations and maintaining audience suspense.  Be conscious of your equipment. Recognize the impact of different came

Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 Monkeys, the full-length movie

Image
I enjoyed the video. Despite delving into the intricate details of dark and chaotic scenes, the narrator's calming voice stood out. "Le Jetee" truly emphasises the significance of a film score. Although initially labelled as a photo novel, it marked the shift from photo novels to stop motion films. This psychological thriller unfolded through a series of black and white images, yet maintained a coherent narrative. "12 Monkeys" attempted a similar storyline but couldn't capture the poignant essence of the heart-wrenching photo novel. This experience serves as a reminder that every shot contributes to a story – angles, lighting, and sounds elevate it to a higher level. The decision to read an article reinforced my agreement with the author's comments. Both films share a plot, with "12 Monkeys" paying homage to Le Jetee but incorporating innovative techniques for a fresh perspective. It was a beautiful tribute to Chris Marker's brilliance, s

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

Image
To be completely honest, that has to be one of the most disturbing films I’ve watched in a long time. There was no talking throughout the whole short film. The setting was lifeless and looked as if this animated world had been abandoned. The plot started with  two doll-like figures with some sort of numbers on their back, one being 5 and the other being 9. They end up coming across this mechanical looking monster, it looks like they went for a mixture of a lion and a dog type of design but made entirely of metal. It had bright green eyes and a disturbing roar. This monster proceeds to abduct the doll labelled 5 and uses a green portal device to kill him. The other doll that was labelled 9 was terrified and ran away to go hide. Eventually it comes to the doll labelled 9 find pieces of junk that he puts together to create a torch however, with a lightbulb doll 9 ends up attracting the monster into a abandoned cave like setting, where doll 9 intraps themself on a large wooden plank, jus
